St Mary’s Church
The current building dates from around 1200 although there has probably been a church on the site of St Mary’s for over a thousand years. As a minster church, the vicar and clergy looked after the townspeople as well as those living in the countryside around Reading.

The Berkshire Medical History Centre
Housed in the Old Laundry (1881) of the Royal Berkshire Hospital, the Centre preserves and displays items of historical medical interest particularly those with a local connection. The collection includes many hundreds of artefacts and photographs relating to medicine, nursing, pharmacy and dentistry.

The Forbury Gardens
The Forbury Gardens, originally part of Reading Abbey, were laid out between 1856 and 1864.

The Living Rainforest
A tract of tropical rainforest in two large conservatories complete with exotic plants and free flying birds and butterflies. Animals include free-roaming lizard, a group of monkeys, a crocodile, snakes and much more. Special events held throughout the year. Open daily 10am to 5.15pm..

The Look Out Discovery Centre
Visit our exciting hands-on, interactive science and nature exhibition with over 70 bright and fun filled exhibits in five themed zones. Come and dance on a giant keyboard, launch a hot air balloon or freeze your shadow on the wall.

The Ridgeway
The Ridgeway is Britain’s oldest road. Stretching 87 miles, this chalk ridge route was used by prehistoric man, and is still enjoyed today by walkers and cyclists. Aldworth is a favourite village to pick up the trail.

The Riverside Museum
The museum tells the story of Reading’s two rivers, the Thames and the Kennet and occupies two former industrial buildings.

The Theatre Royal
The Theatre Royal is situated in the centre of Windsor directly opposite the castle and is one of Britain’s leading theatres. The theatre offers a wide selection of shows from classic plays to pantomime and is the only unsubsidised theatre in Britain.

Windsor Arts Centre
Windsor Arts Centre is only a five minute walk from the town centre and is housed in an old fire station. This unlikely venue plays host to some of Windsor’s most exciting cultural activity with a programme that spans the areas of music, dance, drama, comedy, films and exhibitions.
