Par Beach
The Isles of Scilly enjoy a mild climate and the main islands boast many fine, sandy beaches. St. Martin’s is perhaps the island with the most beaches, of which one of the best is Par Beach facing south towards St. Mary’s.

Pendeen Lighthouse
Pendeen Lighthouse is dramatically positioned on a jagged stretch of coastline in Cornwall and is a good place to look out for seals, kestrels and buzzards. The light in the lighthouse used to be lit by an oil Argand lamp which was replaced by an electric lamp in the 1920s.

Pendeen Mining Museum and the Gem and Jewellery Workshop
Both the Pendeen Mining Museum and the Gem and Jewellery Workshop are situated in the same stone buildings that used to be traditional farm buildings. The mining museum houses working models of local mines and visitors can trace the history of mining in the area.

Peninnis Light
The Isles of Scilly, standing athwart the main shipping lanes from the Atlantic to the UK, have always posed a threat and, over the centuries, hundreds of ships have come to grief on the many rocks, possibly the most famous being the disastrous wreck of Sir Cloudesley Shovell’s fleet in 1707.

Penlee House Gallery & Museum
Penlee House Gallery & Museum, Penzance, is an elegant gallery set within a Victorian house and park. Changing exhibitions mainly feature the art of the area from 1880 to 1940, often including the famous ‘Newlyn School’ artists such as Stanhope and Elizabeth Forbes. Walter Langley, Harold Harvey and ‘Lamorna’ Birch.

Porthcurno Beach
Porthcurno Beach is situated just a few miles from Land’s End and is hidden away in the western corner of Porthcurno Bay. There is a car park a short walk from the beach which is bordered by cliffs and is South facing making it ideal for sun worshippers.

Porthcurno Telegraph Museum
From Victorian times, telegraph cables linked the beautiful valley of Porthcurno with remote parts of the world. By the start of World War II, it’s strategic importance led to the building of tunnels to protect the equipment.

Rinsey Head
Cornwall was for many years a centre of tin mining and the coasts around the county are littered with derelict buildings. Rinsey Head, three miles west of Porthleven, boasts pithead buildings which have been cosmetically restored to give an idea of their original appearance.

River Helford
The Lizard peninsula is almost cut in half by the River Helford and the various creeks and tributaries feeding it. It is totally different to the rest of the Lizard, being a quiet, tree-lined haven of quiet where yachts can anchor at leisure.

Screech Owl Sanctuary
The Screech Owl Sanctuary near St.Columb, Cornwall, is zoo licensed and opens to the public daily.
