Abbot Hall Art Gallery
Abbot Hall Art Gallery provides the perfect setting in which to see and enjoy fine art. It is one of Britain’s finest small galleries with a wonderful art collection and highly acclaimed exhibition programme.

Abbot Hall Park
Abbot Hall Park is situated in Kirkland at the southern end of the market town of Kendal. It is located between Abbot Hall Art Gallery, the River Kent and Kendal Parish Church. The grounds are a great place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the town.

Adrian Sankey
At our Lake District studio, we design and make contemporary glass, lighting, furniture and interiors for people who enjoy the subtleties of good design. In our galleries you can see traditional materials, fine craftsmanship and modern ideas come together in our exclusive collections..

Aira Force
Aira Force is a waterfall situated near the north shore of Ullswater, where William Wordsworth wrote the famous words, I wandered lonely as a cloud. It is situated in a beautiful Victorian landscaped park owned by the National Trust (but entrance is free).

Aquarium of the Lakes
Aquarium of the Lakes takes you on a journey through the life of a Lake District river. Starting in the mountains, you can follow a raindrop’s course down to the sea at Morecambe Bay, and see the fauna and flora along the way.

Arnside Knott
Arnside Knott is a limestone hill on the edge of Arnside that rises to 159 metres above sea leve (522ft). Now owned by the National Trust, the area is home to a wide variety of wild flowers and butterflies, and offers fine views over Morecambe Bay and the surrounding countryside.

Ashness Bridge
Despite being one of the most photographed viewpoints in the Lake District, the view from Ashness Bridge, across Derwent Water to Keswick and Skiddaw is well worth seeing. Avoid the crowds by going early or late; that way sunrise or sunset will make your photograph all the more dramatic.

Beatrix Potter Gallery
This gallery has a display of original watercolours painted by Beatrix Potter for her children’s stories. Exhibits are changed annually. The 17th Century building was once the office of her husband William Heelis, a solicitor, and is substantially unaltered since his day.

Belle Isle
Belle Isle is a wooded island in Lake Windermere, landscaped in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The island is one mile long - the longest in the lake. It has a long history dating back to Roman times when the commander at Ambleside built a villa here.

Blackwell - The Arts and Crafts House
Blackwell, built in 1900, is one of Britain’s most important houses, positioned in a dramatic Lakeland setting overlooking Lake Windermere. It is a rare example of the Arts and Crafts Movement with wonderfully rich interiors that have survived almost entirely intact.
