Plymouth’s medieval parish church is the largest in Devon. The wealthy merchants of the thriving port poured money into its rebuilding in the 15th century. The 136-foot tower was paid for by Thomas Yogge. When Plymouth suffered heavy bombing in 1941, the church was burnt out.
